A lot needs to change to avoid a climate crisis. While most of these changes need to happen through big system and industry shifts, individuals can take action, too. Individual economic action both decreases our carbon footprint and sends important signals to businesses and corporations about consumer demand for more sustainable and socially just options.
Saying no to plastic bags and bottles, eating a more plant-based diet, using LED lighting, and other economic choices tells the marketplace that consumers no longer want to buy things that are harmful to people and our planet.
There are many, many ways we can all do our part to fight climate change. More Green America resources can be found on their website and in their Your Green Life publication.
The PSA was designed by Green America, a national nonprofit focused on building our nation’s green economy, fighting corporate abuse, and helping consumers and business leaders work together to fight climate change, and create a just and sustainable world through economic action.
Green America’s mission is to harness economic power – the strength of consumers, investors, businesses and the marketplace – to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. Green America mobilizes people in these roles to take individual and collective action around six key interconnected issue areas: clean energy and climate action, regenerative agriculture, responsible finance, fair labor, social justice, and green living.
