Our city’s “new normal” of social distancing, shuttered businesses, lost wages, and closed schools has led to thousands more New Yorkers facing hunger. Low-income New Yorkers, families with school-aged children, and seniors at high-risk of infection are among those who are struggling most. According to a poll recently published by The New York Times, half of New York City residents are concerned about how they will afford food as this crisis continues. Amid this new reality, the number of people turning to our emergency food network has increased by 50%. This PSA highlights the Food Bank NYC map, which includes locations that are currently distributing food, free of charge, throughout NYC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This PSA is available in English, Korean, French, Chinese, and Spanish.
The Food Bank For New York City has been working to end food poverty in our five boroughs for 35 years. During this COVID-19 pandemic, Food Bank is taking proactive steps to safely provide food and other resources for the New Yorkers who rely on their services. As one of our city’s leading hunger-relief organizations, Food Bank NYC stands prepared to provide emergency food to vulnerable New Yorkers who may be quarantined, along with those impacted by the economic downturn.
This PSA will be shared on the digital PSA Network as well as the Novotel Times Square digital billboard thanks to donated ad space from our mission-driven media partner Blue Vista 725.
