Local elections matter. Borough presidents oversee major land-use decisions, appoint members of community boards and the City Planning Commission and control a multimillion-dollar budget to support local organizations.

The Mayor’s Democracy NYC Initiative aims to increase voter registrations and civic engagement in New York City, while also empowering New Yorkers to participate in all elections. DemocracyNYC was first announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio in his 2018 State of the City address, detailing a robust 10-Point Plan to make New York City the fairest, most civically engaged big city in America.
A healthy democracy is dependent on active civic participation and F.Y. Eye encourages all our partners, hosts, colleagues, and friends to help get out the vote in Queens!
